Henry Flynt, son of Rev. Josiah Flynt of Dorchester, was born in 1676, graduated at Harvard College 1693, was Tutor from 1699 till 1754, Fellow from 1700 till 1760, and died Feb. 13, 1760; he was a man of sound learning, of acute and discriminating intellect; firm but moderate, steadfast in opinion, but without obstinacy; zealous and faithful in the discharge of his various duties.

Rev. Edward Wigglesworth, D.D., was son of Rev. Michael and Sibyl Wigglesworth, of Malden, Mass.; graduated at Harvard College in 1710; unanimously appointed first Hollisian Professor of Divinity, inducted into office Oct. 24, 1729, and died Jan. 16, 1765. Dr. Chauncey, in his "Sketch of Eminent Men in New England," bears witness to his "firmness to his own principles, his charity to those of others, his learning, piety, and usefulness, strength of mind, largeness of understanding, extraordinary talent, catholic spirit and conduct, nothwithstanding great temptations to the contrary"

Edward Holyoke, of Boston, graduated at Harvard College 1705, was Tutor from 1712 till 1716, Fellow from 1713 till 1716, chosen President 1737, which office he held till 1769, when he died, deeply lamented as a man and an officer. "Fidelity and uprightness were the prominent features of his character. In duty punctual; in judgment sound; in manners, urbane; in his official relations earned, assiduous, and unremittting, he acquired the confidence of the friends of the seminary, and the esteem of the public; and his administration was at once the longest and one of the most prosperous in the annals of Harvard College."

John Wadsworth was a native of Duxbury, and his mother was the great-dranddaughter of John Alden, who came to N. E. in the Mayflower in 1621. Mr. Wadsworth graduated at Harvard College in 1762, was Tutor from 1770 till 1777, and Fellow from 1774 to 1777; he spent much of his time in the study of metaphysics, and inlogical discussions, in which his superior powers were universally acknowledged. He died, in 1777, of the small-pox, which was then prevalent in Cambridge; and it is said that he had long anticipated death by that disorder, and was greatly alarmed when his physician told him that he had taken it; he had refused inoculation, through fear of the result. He was greatly lamented by the members of the University; the older ones valued his learning, and the younger ones were attached to him for his mild and courteous deportment.

Hon. Samuel Danforth was the son of Rev. John Danforth, of Dorchester; he graduated at Harvard College 1715, was a counsellor and Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, and of Probate, in Middlesex County, and a Mandamus Consellor in 1774. He married Elizabeth Symms.

Thomas Marsh, of Hingham, graduated at Harvard College 1731, was Librarian at that institution from 1737 to 1742, Tutor from 1741 to 1766, Fellow from 1755 to 1766, and died at Watertown.

Nathaniel Appleton, D.D., was born at Ipswich, Dec. 9, 1693, graduated at Harvard College 1712, was ordained at Cambridge Oct. 9, 1717, and was chosen a Fellow of Harvard College the same yaer; he received, in 1771, the degree of Doctor of Divinity, being the second person who had received that honor, Doct. Increase Mather being the first. After a ministry of 67 years, he died Feb. 9, 1784, in the 91st year of his age.

This monument was erected by the bereaved, affectionate flock MDCCXC.

Rev. Timothy Hilliard was born in Kensington, N.H., in 1746, graduated at Harvard College 1764; in 1768 was appointed chaplain of Castle William, and after a few months, was chosen a Tutor in Hartford College; he was ordained minister at Barnstable, April 10, 1771; was installed at Cambridge, Oct. 27, 1783, and died "in the midst of his usefullness, and with increasing reputation," May 9, 1790.
